The Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA) celebrated the Lunar New Year of the Dragon on February 16, 2024 (Friday). This event, marking SAPA's 31year of service to the community, brought together volunteers, sponsors, members, and friends to honor their contributions over the past year. Attendees enjoyed cultural performances, celebrated the arrival of the Year of the Dragon, and highlighted SAPA's ongoing commitment to bringing diversity and inclusion to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Hosted by Jessie Li, Yong Guo, Yongle Pang, and Maggie Lin, the dinner kicked off with New Year blessings. The hosts introduced the event’s agenda, expressed gratitude for the support and contributions of volunteers and sponsors, and welcomed all guests. Dr. Jack Wu, President of SAPA, then reviewed SAPA's mission and the exciting event lineup for 2024. Dr. Yongmei Li, Immediate-past President of SAPA, Dr. David Cragin, President-elect, and Xiaole Shen, BD Chair, also extended Lunar New Year blessings to all attendees.

The dinner was filled with a joyful and festive atmosphere, highlighted by several performances. Jin Yang, a Pipa artist who won the Chinese Golden Bell Award of Music, delivered a splendid performance, that vividly reflects cheerful holiday spirit and inspires imagination about beautiful sceneries in China. Following this, SAPA volunteers from BMS, Xiaowei Sun, Junchi Lu, Tong (Amanda) Kang, Shiqi Dong, and Jessie Yin, performed a traditional Chinese style jazz dance titled “The Same Hairpin”, which celebrates spring and sisterhood with lively upbeat music. Young violinist George Yang then captivated the audience with “Spring Festival Joy,” a classic Chinese New Year piece, further enhancing the festive spirit of the event.
As the event neared its conclusion, a raffle activity peaked the excitement, offering valuable prizes that symbolized good fortune for the new year and left guests with happy memories and laughter.
Finishing with well-wishes from the hosts, the SAPA 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration ended on a high note. This event attracted around 150 industry professionals and executives, fostering connections among attendees, and setting the groundwork for future collaboration. SAPA commits to organizing more quality events in 2024, aiming to enhance networking, knowledge sharing, and support among professionals in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
